Pope Francis is recovering from an intenstine operation he udnerwent at Rome’s Agostino Gemelli hospital on Wednesday. This afternoon, he “broke the protocol,” and asked his associates to give him his mobile phone. He then called the mother of little Miguel Angel, the child he baptized two months ago in the same hospital, at the time of his previous admission due to acute bronchitis. The child, of Peruvian origin, was hospitalized in the Catholic polyclinic after falling from a child seat.
At noon, Miguel Angel’s mother had gone to Gemelli Hospital to thank Pope Francis and wished him a speedy recovery. She gave him an album of photos with a dedication inside. “We would love to spend an afternoon together so you can get to know our family better because you are now a part of our lives,” she wrote in the album.
Although she was unable to meet Pope Francis in person, the head of the Roman Catholic Church called her shortly afterwards to thank her and to promise that they would meet again soon.
