Palm Sunday was celebrated by Metropolitan of Ireland in Nafplio (PHOTOS)

Metropolitan Iakovos of Ireland presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Parish Church of Saint Anastasios in Nafplio on Palm Sunday, April 28, 2024.

Characteristic of the day is the priest distributing Vagia, symbolizing Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem. In the Church of Saint Anastasios, the Metropolitan of Ireland distributed Corfiot palm branches. The Corfiot palms are intricately woven from tender palm leaves, forming a cruciform shape, and adorned with small branches of olive, rosemary, and sage.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Fr. Konstantinos Oikonomou, the priest of the Church, expressed gratitude to the Metropolitan of Ireland for the honor bestowed upon them by presiding over the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saint Anastasios, the patron saint of Nafplio.

During the Divine Liturgy, he led a choir under the direction of the protopsaltis Konstantinos Routoulas.
