Pope Francis, addressing the faithful in St. Peter’s Square after the “Angelus” prayer dedicated to the Virgin, emphasized his prayers for the victims of the cowardly terrorist attack in Moscow. He beseeched the Lord for the repentance of those who perpetrate and orchestrate such inhuman acts, which deeply offend God.
The pontiff recalled the Lord’s command “Thou shalt not kill.”
Referring to Ukraine, he asked all believers to pray and stressed that “a very large number of people are without electricity, due to the intensification of attacks.”
“Please, let’s not forget the long-suffering Ukraine. Attacks against the country’s infrastructure not only cause deaths and pain, but also risk an even greater humanitarian tragedy,” the pontiff added.
Pope Francis, after concluding the Gospel reading during today’s Palm Sunday service, opted not to deliver his planned speech, possibly due to fatigue stemming from the virus he had recently battled.
