The infectious disease specialist and member of the experts’ committee, Nikos Sypsas, spoke on SKAI TV about we should or should not do in the near future due to the coronavirus pandemic.
For the churches, he clarified that “we have already discussed it in the committee, there is already a plan for how the churches will be opened safely. I think that there is also the consent of the Church, the political leadership will soon announce how they will open since they will not open as they used to.”
“We will avoid mass gathering, we will always keep our distance, and in the church, all the worship details will change according to the new situation. Fewer believers, good ventilation, good disinfection… We may not kiss the holy icons or the priest’s hand, but we will bow as a sign of respect in worship. There are too many ways to go to church without compromising security,” said the professor at the University of Athens.
“It’s not a very good idea to hold overcrowded events,” he said.
