From Wednesday, September 10, to Friday, September 13, Pope Francis made a historic visit to Singapore, the first papal visit to the country since 1986.
On Thursday, a grand Divine Liturgy was held at the national stadium, with 30 Cardinals and Bishops from Southeast Asia and 280 priests participating. The event drew a crowd of 50,000 people, reflecting the significance of the occasion.
During his visit, Pope Francis met with Metropolitan Konstantinos of Singapore and South Asia, who has been serving as the hierarch of the Ecumenical Throne in the region since 2011.
Despite his advanced age, the Pontiff maintained a demanding schedule, engaging in meetings with national authorities, diplomats, and religious leaders. He also connected with the Roman Catholic community and concluded his visit with a dialogue involving 600 young men and women from diverse religious and cultural traditions across Singapore.
