On Saturday, September 14th, the annual Convocation took place at the Maliotis Cultural Center of HCHC, marking the beginning of the new academic year. Archbishop Elpidophoros of America was present to welcome the students, faculty, and staff.
The event commenced with the Procession of the Relic of the Holy, Precious, and Life-Giving Cross, accompanied by the Byzantine chanting of the St. Romanos the Melodist Choir. Following the procession, the Dean of Students, Fr. Patrick O’Rourke, delivered a warm welcome address.
Dr. Demetrios S. Katos, President of HCHC, delivered the Convocation Address, emphasizing the values of faith, education, and service that guide the institution. Archbishop Elpidophoros of America also addressed the HCHC community. He stressed the importance of following the path of Christ, described as the “Way of Faith, Hope, and Love.” He called upon the students, faculty, and administration to embrace the Way of the Cross, urging them to go beyond personal achievement and status, focusing rather on selfless love and service, which are the true measures of spiritual fulfillment in Orthodox Christianity.
