The Holy Synod makes clarifications regarding article 90 of the bill submitted by the Ministry of Finance which concerns, among others, legal persons governed by public law of the Church of Greece.
More specifically, “in view of the misunderstandings by MPs and some of the press”, it emphasizes that “article 90 of the bill has nothing to do with the settlement of any debts of the ecclesiastical legal persons governed by public law to the state. Once it enters into force, the debt settlement agreements will be subject to review and approval by the supervisory and decision-making bodies of each ecclesiastical legal persons governed by public law, as provided for each agreement of these bodies.”
