The Funeral Service for the late Bishop Ierotheos of Efkarpia, Abbot of the Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Irene Chrysovalantou in Astoria, America, was performed at the Holy Trinity Church of Patras, on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
The body of the deceased was brought to the Holy Temple on the evening of Wednesday, March 13, where a Holy Vigil was conducted by Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Trikki, with numerous Clergymen participating in the service, alongside Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras, who prayed at the altar.
On the morning of Thursday, March 14, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Trinity.
In addition, the Metropolitan of Patras presided over the funeral service, delivering a eulogy and extolling the character, virtues, and contributions of the departed Bishop, both within the Holy Metropolis of Patras and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Metropolitans Panteleimon of Veria, Ierotheos of Nafpaktos, Kallinikos of Arta, Athanasios of Ilia, Chrysostomos of Trikki, Damaskinos of Aetolia and Akarnania, as well as Bishops Theophilos of Lacedaemonia and Chrysanthos of Kernitsa, co-celebrated the service.
The body of the late Bishop was then transported to his homeland in Thermo, Aetolia, where clergy and laity, led by Metropolitan Damaskinos of Aetolia and Acarnania, paid their final respects. Subsequently, the burial took place at the site of the Hierarch’s birth.
