In the presence of a multitude of believers, the memory of Saint Matrona the Blind and the Wonderworker was commemorated in the Holy Church of the Annunciation in Nea Ionia, where the Holy Icon and the Holy and Miraculous Relics of the Russian Saint are kept.
On the eve of the feast, Wednesday, May 1, 2019, Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia and Philadelphia officiated at the Great Vespers.
On the day of the feast, Thursday, May 2, Metropolitan Gabriel officiated at the Matins and then celebrated the Divine Liturgy with the participation of priests of the Holy Metropolis.
In his speech, Gabriel, on the occasion of the Daily Bible Reading, referred to the marvelous life of Saint Matrona and the charisma of wonderwork offered to her by the grace of God, while urged the large congregation to imitate her example through practicing her life and virtues.
