Around 100 students from the School of Theology of the University of Athens, accompanied by Professor Stavros Giakazoglou, visited the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece in order to be informed about the organization and administration of the Holy Synod in particular and the Church of Greece in general.
Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens welcomed the students in the Holy Synod building.
Stavros Giakgazoglou said that this meeting is essential, because in this way the teaching of Theology is meaningfully integrated with the Church.
In a brief welcome speech, the Archbishop welcomed the students and thanked Professor Stavros Giakazoglou for taking this initiative. He stressed that it is highly important that this meeting took place in the building of the Holy Synod in order that the students could acquire first hand insight into the activities of the Church.
He also mentioned that this initiative could be a good example in order that more meetings of this kind could take place while he hoped that relevant contacts with professors from other Schools of Theology would be established.
After the information meeting, the students had the opportunity to ask questions to the Archbishop.
