Today, Friday, April 26, 2024, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America welcomed Secretary General Dimitris Koutsoumpas of the Greek Communist Party (KKE) to the Archdiocese Headquarters.
Archbishop Elpidophoros and Secretary Koutsoumpas had the opportunity to share their perspectives on the Greek American community and issues related to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and the Church in general.
Secretary Koutsoumpas was accompanied by Lefteris Nikolaou-Alavanos, Member of the European Parliament; Kostas Gouliamos, MEP candidate and former Rector of the European University of Cyprus; and Zisis Lymberidis, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of KKE and Head of the Committee of Party Organizations of Greeks Abroad.
In response to the visit, Archbishop Elpidophoros expressed his gratitude for the presence of Dimitris Koutsoumpas, stating, “It is an honor to welcome the General Secretary of the Greek Communist Party to our Archdiocese.” He further extended his wishes for Koutsoumpas to continue his dedicated service to his country, reflecting on the legacy of his priest grandfather who bravely fought against Nazi occupiers in 1944.
