On Wednesday, 31 May 2023, Archbishop Makarios of Australia, welcomed at the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, in Sydney, the production team of the Documentary “On the Other Side of the World”, which outlines the long story of the migration of the Cretans to the fifth continent.
Specifically, the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese were visited by Ms. Andriani Angelidaki, Journalist, Mr. Nikos Pantermarakis, Director, Mr. Nikolas Leventakis, Director of Photography, Mr. Manos Vidakis, Videographer,
and Mrs. Eva Skoula, Sound Engineer.
The Archbishop warmly welcomed the contributors of the Documentary, while he happily accepted the invitation to give his personal testimony, as Primate of the Orthodox Church in Australia and, of course, as a Cretan by origin.
After the interview, the Archbishop hosted the production team in his office and they discussed, in a friendly atmosphere, issues that concern the Greek Omogeneia of Australia, as well as the Greek homeland and the great island of Crete.
At the end of the meeting, His Eminence offered everyone commemorative gifts, which included the honorary Volume on the life and work of the blessed Archbishop Stylianos of Australia, with the title: “Archbishop Stylianos – Shepherd, Theologian, Poet”, collector coins issued by the Holy Archdiocese of Australia for the 200th Anniversary of the beginning of the Greek Revolution and stamps from the Anniversary Series issued, on the occasion of the same Anniversary, by Australia Post, in collaboration with the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
