The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, Annita Demetriou, met Metropolitan Makarios of Nairobi today.
The Speaker expressed her admiration and sincere appreciation for the Godly work carried out by the Holy Metropolis of Nairobi since its foundation in Kenya in 1958. She further praised the selfless devotion of Metropolitan Makarios, who for 45 years has been contributing to the flock and the people of Kenya in general.
She also expressed the readiness of the House of Representatives to assist in any way possible to strengthen the missionary work in Kenya.
Metropolitan of Nairobi referred to the mission’s actions both iin relation to charity by providing food and other necessary living items, as well as to free education and technical training. In particular, he referred to the operation of the Orthodox Patriarchal School “Archbishop Makarios III of Cyprus”, in which, as he pointed out, African seminary students are trained to serve in most countries of the African continent which are under the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa.
