On Tuesday, April 23, a Clergy Synaxis was held at the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia in Sydney, presided over by Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
The theme of the Clergy Synaxis was “The Spiritual Confession” and it was presented by the learned Hieromonk Father Antipas, Elder of the Iveron Monastery of Saint Anna in Karyes of Mount Athos.
Fr. Antipas, who spent the entire period of Holy and Great Lent in Australia studying the mystery of confession, spoke simply and vividly, using examples from the lives of the Saints of our Church, about the need for every cleric to confess. He then answered questions from the clergy.
After introducing the distinguished visitor, Archbishop Makarios thanked him and asked him to pray for the clergy and people of the Fifth Continent, so that they may have the enlightenment of God and remain faithful to the teachings and rules of the Church. He then discussed practical matters related to Holy Week, the new Constitution of the Holy Archdiocese, and the visit of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Australia on the completion of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Holy Archdiocese.
It is noted that the Synaxis was attended by the Bishops Iakovos of Miletoupolis, Christodoulos of Magnesia, and Bartholomew of Charioupolis.
