Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium says that Christ is risen in his message to the faithful and that all Christians who believe in Him should hold the hope of heavenly life.
The Metropolitan of Belgium emphasises that the gift of eternal life is given to us through our participation in the church services. Even though we will not be able to “celebrate Easter at the church this year, we must not forget that Easter means being in communion with Christ.” Through the Divine Liturgy, we remain in Communion with Him, as He is present and He represents the ultimate Mystery of the Body and the Blood, which is given to the faithful.
Finally, he points out that we find the answer to all the questions that have been tormenting us in the Resurrection of Christ. “We are still wondering about the true meaning of pain and death. This question has arisen again in this difficult time of the pandemic. We often do not understand why the Lord tests us through several trials, but now we know one thing: Christ is risen and, therefore, we have the opportunity to participate in His Resurrection.”
