The 64th Greek Day Excursion was successfully held in the park of the city of Enghien, just outside the Belgian capital, on Monday, May 29, 2023.
The day began with the established outdoor Divine Liturgy, which was attended by Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxembourg, and continued with a traditional Greek feast and various events for the thousands of Greeks and philhellenes of Belgium and neighboring areas found in the park.
This year’s Greek Excursion was dedicated, worthily, to the late Metropolitan Panteleimon of Belgium, who fell asleep in the Lord five months ago.
The events were attended by the Ambassador of Greece to Belgium, Dionysios Kalavrezos, the Vice-President of the European Commission, and Greek Commissioner, Margaritis Schinas, who gave a greeting after the inaugural greeting of the Metropolitan.
The hymns of the Divine Liturgy were performed by the “Psaltic Choir” and the opening of the musical event was performed by the choir of the School of Byzantine and Traditional Music of the Holy Metropolis “Agios Hilarios”, while the music program at the central stage of the park was undertaken by the internationally renowned music group “Pentaichon”.
