On Sunday, July 23 2023, Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxembourg, celebrating his name day, presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan Church of Brussels, with the participation of clergy of the Metropolis and many believers.
In his sermon, the Metropolitan referred to the relevant passage of the Bible.
After the end of the Divine Liturgy, the ceremony of the Doxology for the National Holiday of Belgium followed.
Finally, the Metropolitan thanked the clergy and the faithful, who came to honor the memory of Saint Athenagoras the Apologist and their shepherd bearing his name. He wished that the saint would protect the Greeks who had been suffering due to the wildfires that had been ravaging the country.
A festive reception followed at the Parish Center of the Metropolitan Church.
The holy clergy and the pious people wished Metropolitan Athenagoras all the best and hoped that he would continue his work at the local Church in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
