The Sunday of Pentecost was celebrated at the Holy Trinity Church in Hobart, Tasmania, on Sunday, June 20.
The Archiepiscopal Vicar of Canberra, Archimandrite Prochoros Anastasiadis, presided over the Divine Liturgy as reported by vema.com.au.
It was a special day for the Greek Orthodox flock of Tasmania, with the blessings of the Archbishop Makarios of Australia, as Fr. Prochoros introduced the new priest in charge of the Parish of the Holy Trinity, Fr. Dimitrios Katsis. It is noted that Fr. Dimitrios will also serve the faithful in the Church of the Dormition in Launceston.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Fr. Prochoros spoke to the congregation about the great feast of Orthodoxy, while pointing out the significance of everyone working for the needs of the Holy Archdiocese in obedience to their shepherd.
He then welcomed Fr. Dimitrios with the advice to embrace and show his love for all the faithful, working for the glory of God and His people.
In addition, the Archimandrite praised the Greek Orthodox flock of Tasmania, saying to Fr. Dimitrios that he will meet simple people with big hearts, who are very eager to come closer to God.
In his reply, the new priest of the Holy Trinity Parish thanked Archbishop Makarios for giving him the blessing to serve the people of Tasmania, while thanking Fr. Prochoros for his help, support and love.
Then, Fr. Dimitrios promised to do everything possible to bring people closer to God and the Holy Archdiocese.
Afterwards, a meal was served where Fr. Dimitrios and his spouse had the opportunity to meet the parishioners of the Holy Trinity.
Finally, the parish council offered flowers to the priest’s spouse and a small welcome gift to Fr. Dimitrios.
