Archbishop Elpidophoros of America officiated the Holy Resurrection Service, Orthros, and Divine Liturgy at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in NYC, NY.
On his Facebook account, Archbishop Elpidophoros shared the joy of the Resurrection, reiterating priest’s words: “Come ye and receive light from the unwaning light, and. glorify Christ, who arose from the dead.”
Earlier in the morning on the same day, Fr. John Vlahos and the faithful of St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Shrine Church in Greenlawn, NY welcomed Archbishop Elpidophoros to their community.
In his Homily, Archbishop Elpidophoros offered words of hope to the faithful who filled the church for the Divine Liturgy of the First Resurrection and Vespers of Holy and Great Saturday. “In willingly dying upon the Cross, God the Son, made it possible for each and every human person to be reborn with Him by His Resurrection from the dead. He made it possible for our lives to be utterly transformed. He made it possible for us to live in the highest potential of our created form, as loving, merciful, compassionate, forgiving and altruistic persons…In death He transcends every limitation of space and time. And by descending into the realm of the dead, He offers them the same eternal life that He offers us. No one is left behind” the Archbishop remarked.
