On the night of May 5, 2024, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine presided over solemn Easter services at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kyiv, including a midnight vigil, a procession, an early Easter service, and the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom.
The Primate of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine, accompanied by the abbot of the Golden-Domed Monastery, Archbishop Agapit of Vyshhorod, Bishop Efrem of Vasylkiv, the monastery brethren, and clergy, led the faithful in these sacred Easter observances.
At the Divine Liturgy, following the Gospel reading delivered in various languages as tradition dictates, Metropolitan Epifaniy addressed his Easter message to the archpastors, shepherds, monastics, and all Orthodox believers of Ukraine.
Prayers were also offered for the Ukrainian soldiers defending the country, for the government, and for the people of Ukraine. Additionally, prayers were said for the repose of the souls of all fallen defenders of the Motherland and civilians who have perished in the ongoing conflict.
Concluding the Easter service, Metropolitan Epifaniy performed the traditional blessing of the artos (a special large prosphora), along with Easter cakes and other offerings.
