Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia served at midnight between May 4 and 5, 2024, on the feast of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Paschal Matins and the Divine Liturgy in the Church of Saint Sava in Vračar.
The Patriarch was accompanied by: Archimandrite Nectarije, the chief secretary of the Holy Synod of Bishops; Archimandrite Danilo, director of the Patriarchal Administrative Office; archpriests-stavrophorians Vladimir Vukašinović and Dimitrije Kasapis; archpriest Đorđe Stojisavljević, head of the Cabinet of the Serbian Patriarch; archpriest Zoran Ranković, dean of the Orthodox Theological Faculty in Belgrade; archpriests Nenad Jovanović and Dragan Šovljanski; as well as protodeacons: Dragan Radić and Radomir Vrućinić.
At the solemn Eucharistic gathering, several thousands of the faithful participated in prayer, many of whom received the Holy Communion. During the Holy Liturgy, this year’s Easter Epistle of the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije was read. At the end, the Holy Patriarch congratulated everyone on the holiday with the greeting: Christ is Risen!, wishing that we would all be better and resurrected as a nation together with the resurrected Christ.
The Easter Liturgy, among others, was attended by: the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dačić, Minister of Justice Maja Popović, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić, Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović, Archbishop and Metropolitan of Belgrade Ladislav Nemet, Crown Prince Filip Karađorđević, Director of the Directorate for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities Dr. Vladimir Roganović.
