A telegram of condolence was sent today to the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Serbia from the Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, on the occasion of the repose of Patriarch Irinej of Serbia.
In its announcement, the Standing Holy Synod stated that:
“With great sadness, we have been informed about the passing away of our beloved brother in Christ, Reverend Archbishop Irinej of Peć, Metropolitan of Belgrade and Karlovci and Patriarch of Serbia, who for a decade, as a very capable helmsman, directed the imaginary nave of the Most Holy Church of Serbia.
Participating wholeheartedly in the mourning of the sister Church of Serbia, we wish from the bottom of our hearts, the Sovereign of life and death, our Savior Jesus Christ, to lead his blessed soul to the Saints, and that a worthy successor will be chosen.
