The Abbot, Bishop Kassianos of Aravissos, presided over the Orthros and the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Trinity Church of the Seminary today. In his speech, the Bishop sent his wishes to the faithful for a happy and blessed New Year while referring to the sad anniversary of the closure of Halki seminary that took place fifty years ago. In his speech, the Bishop stressed that they were constantly praying for the reopening of Halki seminary.
After the Divine Liturgy, the Bishop blessed and cut the New Year’s vasilopita. With the blessing of Metropolitan Geron Dimitrios of Princes’ Islands, the Community of Saint Nikolaos in Halki attended the ceremony.
