The working sessions of the second day sitting of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, presided by Archbishop Ieronymos, concluded.
Before the beginning of the working sessions, Archim. Filotheos Theocharis received the Affirmation as the new Chief Secretary. The Archbishop and the members of the Holy Synod wished him a good and fruitful ministry.
The Holy Synod discussed the issue of the revision of the Penal Code, in response to the document of the Secretary General for Religious Affairs Georgios Kalantzis, through which he released the letter sent by the Secretary General to the Minister of Justice with remarks on the draft of the new Penal Code.
Moreover, the Synod approved the participation of the Church of Greece in a conference of the Editorial Committee of the international Commission for Anglican–Orthodox Theological Dialogue in Canterbury, England, from June 27 to June 28, 2019.
The Synod appointed Bishop Theoklitos of Tegea as the Protosyncellus of the Metropolis of Mantineia and Kynouria.
The Synod appointed Archimandrite Nikolaos Giannousas as the Protosyncellus of the Metropolis of Kastoria.
The Synod decided to give EUR 70,000 to the Centere of Ecclesiastical Education in the form of grant for the meals of the students and covering the operating expenses of the Regional Ecclesiastical Centers.
Finally, the Synod dealt with issues of Metropolises and other current issues.
