The memory of Saints Constantine and Helen was solemnly celebrated at the Northbridge Church in Perth. The celebrations commenced with Festive Vespers on the eve of the feast, followed by the Festive Divine Liturgy on the feast day, presided over by Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Perth.
The Divine Liturgy was attended by notable guests, including Georgia Karasiotou, the Consul of Greece in Perth, representatives from the Greek Community of Western Australia, the Kastelorizo Brotherhood, as well as teachers and students from the Greek Orthodox School “Saint Andrew.”
In his sermon, Bishop Elpidios highlighted two significant aspects of Saint Constantine’s life: the convocation of the First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea in 325 AD, and his decision to send his mother, Saint Helen, to Jerusalem to locate the Holy Cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified.
Following the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Elpidios conveyed the paternal blessings of Archbishop Makarios of Australia to the congregation. The celebration concluded with tea served in the parish hall by the ecclesiastical committee.
