“May God strengthen you, give you strength and health so that you can carry out the difficult task assigned to you by the Greek people. ” wished Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece after the established sanctification rite that took place at the building of the Hellenic Parliament this morning.
The Archbishop performed the sanctification rite on the beginning of the new parliamentary term, accompanied by the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, Bishop Philotheos of Oreoi.
Earlier, the President of the Hellenic Parliament, Konstantinos Tassoulas, welcomed the Archbishop and his entourage upon their arrival in the Parliament. They held a short meeting at his office.
Only 60 MPs attended the sanctification rite following the decision of the Parliament’s president as part of measures to prevent the COVID-19 spread.
