Restored Church of the Holy Cross in Bournova of Smyrna re-opens 97 Years After Disaster

In Smyrna, amidst an emotional atmosphere, the first Vesper after the Asia Minor Catastrophe, on Friday, and Divine Liturgy on Saturday, were held in the renovated Holy Cross Church in Bournova, Smyrna.

During these historic ceremonies, 97 years after the last Divine Service in 1922, a group of pilgrims from Smyrna attended, while the choir of Byzantine music school “Saint Theodore of Byzantium”, invited by Metropolitan Bartholomew of Smyrna, sang.
