On Saturday, September 14, at the age of 93, former Metropolitan of Zahlé and Baalbek (Heliopolis) of the Patriarchate of Antioch, Spyridon, passed away.
The late Metropolitan Spyridon was born in the city of Uberlandia, Brazil in 1926.
He was ordained a priest in 1956 and ordained to the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary in Alexandria.
On September 26, 1966, he was elected Metropolitan of Ilioupolis, Hipertimos and Exarch of Syria (Zahle), and resigned on June 26, 2015.
