On Saturday the 29th of April Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea received members of the working group “Friends of St John of Prevelly” at the Archdiocesan District of Perth offices.
The working group, consisting of various enthusiastic professionals, have recently started working together with Fr John Sullivan, Parish Priest of St Nicholas in Bunbury, on the “St John Prevelly Project”. Amongst the team members is a retired Colonel from the Australian Army and a SAS Soldier who saw action in Vietnam.
The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the chapel’s history and the “Prevelly story” to the general wider community of WA and beyond. The team members gave a PowerPoint Presentation on the “Prevelly Project” which included a proposal for a Memorial Garden at the Holy Chapel of St John the Theologian in Prevelly, Margaret River, WA.
Before taking anything further, the team members have requested to meet with Archbishop Makarios of Australia when next in Perth and to share with Archbishop Makarios their vision and ideas and to seek further guidance and direction from our Spiritual Father. Bishop Elpidios received the proposal with great joy and enthusiasm.
The Archdiocesan District of Perth also provided morning tea for all the team members.
