Metropolitan Stefanos of Philippi spoke to MEGA TV about the issue that arose with yoga from the Holy Synod. The Metropolitan did not condemn the faithful but promoted the positions of the Church which disagrees with the specific exercise as a philosophy.
“We are telling the faithful where the basis of this thing is. This particular form of this philosophy, as it is manifested, refers to an impersonal God. Everyone is free to express what they believe,” he said.
“We do not condemn the believers, we will simply tell them that Christ does not say that. That does not refer to Christian teaching. Christian teaching does not condemn any concept of exercise. Barely.
We have reopened this case, by republishing a press release issued in 2015. This act does not belong to a Christian act.”
“Ignorance kills. Some may just want to do some exercise. This is their choice. But everyone must be careful about how an event proceeds,” Metropolitan Stefanos concluded.
