Metropolitan Athinagoras of Belgium presided over the Divine Liturgy in the celebrating Parish of the Annunciation in Antwerp, which is the first Orthodox parish in Belgium (founded in 1900), on March 25, 2021.
In his sermon, the Metropolitan referred to the importance of the double feast, the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary and the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution.
The Divine Liturgy was followed by the Doxology for the Greek Independence Day.
On Sunday, March 28, 2021, Metropolitan Athinagoras of Belgium performed the Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan Church of the Saints Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Brussels, in compliance with the restrictions and COVID-19 protective measures.
After the Divine Liturgy, the Metropolitan performed the official Doxology for the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution in the presence of the Greek diplomatic authorities in Belgium and the Greek military authorities in NATO.
The panegyric of the day was delivered by the Ambassador of Greece to Belgium, Dionysios Kalambrezos, while the Doxology ended with the anthem of Greece and of Belgium.
The Metropolitan of Belgium will perform the Doxology for the Greek Independence Day in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg next Sunday.
