With the blessings of Archbishop Makarios of Australia and with the guidance of Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, the Archangels Parish in Parkdale hosted Father Athanasios Iviritis from the Iviron Monastery on Mount Athos to speak about His experiences as a priest-monk on the Holy mountain.
Before Fr Athanasios spoke a short video about the monastery as well as Panagia Portaitissa was shown.
Following the conclusion of the talk, Bishop Kyriakos and Father Athanasios answered questions from the audience.
Fr Athanasios offered a deep insight into the importance of prayer which we should never overlook as part of our daily ascesis as Orthodox Christians.
The Church hall reached full capacity and guests were treated to light refreshments after.
The Bishop on behalf of Archbishop Makarios of Australia thanked Father Athanasios for his insightful talk and thanked the many attendees for their presence and interest.
