“The Resurrection service will be celebrated in Kyiv on Easter Sunday due to the current conditions” stated to ertnews.gr Bishop Michael of Komana.
The Bishop of Komana said that “everyone is getting ready for Easter, it is an important celebration for the life of the Ukrainian people and in the drama, they seek consolation.”
He added that Ukrainians believe that “the Gospel of the Resurrection will give them the strength to win and continue the peaceful life.”
“We are in the center of Kyiv due to the curfew there will not be a procession of the Epitaph, which here is decorated in a very nice way as in Greece,” said the Bishop.
He then explained that the liturgy of the Resurrection cannot take place in the evening because “those who protect us would work twice,” so the Ukrainians will go to church on Easter morning.
“I did not leave, I stayed in Kyiv and I felt calm and responsible. I represent Patriarch Bartholomew and the Mother Church. People need to pray, few of the faithful left, and people started to return to Kyiv, while at the same time refugees from eastern Ukraine came,” he added.
