On Sunday, November 7, 2021, Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium presided over the Divine Liturgy at the celebrating Metropolitan Church of the Holy Archangels in Brussels.
The service was co-officiated by Archbishop Job of Telmessos and the Bishops Dositheos (Hierarch of the Patriarchate of Agriculture in Belgium) and Joachim of Apollonia (Auxiliary Bishop of the Holy Diocese of Belgium), as well as priests and deacons of the Diocese.
The Ambassador of Greece to Belgium Dionysios Kalamvrezos with his wife, as well as other Greek Diplomats, Archon Dr. Konstantinos Vamvakas with his wife, the President of the Hellenic Community of Brussels Dimitrios Argyropoulos, believers from the Netherlands, and the monk Pachomios from the Monastery of Karakallos on Mount Athos attended the service.
During the Divine Liturgy, a deacon of the Holy Metropolis Quinten Koning was ordained presbyter, who is to become a priest in the Parish of the Annunciation of Antwerp. The young presbyter is from the Netherlands, is a married clergyman, and the father of four children.
In his speech, Metropolitan Athenagoras praised the great value of the priesthood, with which nothing can be compared, and emphasized that divine grace is the one that fills human weaknesses.
After the end of the Divine Liturgy, a reception followed for the faithful in the spiritual center of the church on behalf of the celebrating Metropolitan Church and the new presbyter of the Holy Metropolis of Belgium.
