The Greek Parish of Bunbury in Western Australia solemnly celebrated the patron saint of its parish, Saint Nicholas.
On the day of the feast, Bishop Elpidios of Kyanes officiated the Orthros and the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in Saint Nicholas Church in the presence of the Greek Consul in Perth, Georgias Karasiotou, the President of the Parish/Community of Bunbury, Aristidis Papandroulakis, and many faithful from Perth and Bunbury.
After conveying the wishes and blessings of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, Bishop Elpidios spoke of some events from the life of St. Nicholas, highlighting his charitable work, his participation in the Ecumenical Council of Nicaea, saying that from a very young age there were signs of holiness.
Afterwards, the Bishop referred to his special personal relationship with Bunbury, recalling with emotion his regular visits to the city, where he helped the priest as an altar boy, then as a cantor, then as a priest and yesterday for the first time as an assistant bishop, praising God for the great blessing in his life.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the procession of the icon of Saint Nicholas was held and the artoklasia took place in the courtyard of the church. In addition, before the Dismissal, the Bishop donated a Byzantine icon to the new head of the Church of Saint Nicholas, Fr. Ioannis Sullivan.
