Abbot of the Simonospetra monastery of Mount Athos Archim. Elder Eliseos

By Romfea.news

The Fifth Vespers of Great Lent was celebrated on the Fourth Sunday of Great Lent at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Kastoria, officiated by Metropolitan Seraphim of Kastoria.

Metropolitan Seraphim was accompanied by Abbot of the Simonospetra monastery of Mount Athos Archim. Elder Eliseos, and Abbot of the Transfiguration monastery in Dryovouno Archim. Stephanos Rinos, with the presence of many clerics from the Holy Metropolis.

A piece of relics of John the Baptist was transferred to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Kastoria, placed in the center of the church so that the faithful could venerate it.

Archim. Elder Eliseos was invited to speak on “Virtues and their Acquisition According to Saint John Climacus”, referring briefly to the life and times of Saint John and extensively to the content of The Ladder of Divine Ascent.

Metropolitan Seraphim of Kastoria thanked Elder Eliseos for his speech, while referring to the spiritual link with the Simonospetra monastery, and Elder Emilianos.
