For the fourth consecutive year, during the Great Lent, parishioners from St. Nicholas Church in Toronto held a live Skype debate with the sister Church of St. Nicholas in Seoul, South Korea.
After the end of the Divine Liturgy dedicated to Theotokos in the St. Nicholas Church in Toronto, dozens of parishioners gathered in the church hall and spoke via Skype with Metropolitan Ambrosios, priests and associates from the Orthodox Metropolis of Korea on Saturday morning.
During the debate, which lasted for nearly an hour, Metropolitan Ambrosios spoke about the Great Lent and how important is the faith in Christ in today’s society.
Metropolitan Ambrosios referred briefly to the visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in South Korea. It was the fourth time that the Ecumenical Patriarch visited South Korea since December 2018. In addition to attending the celebration of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (December 6) in Seoul, the Ecumenical Patriarch participated in the International Symposium on the Environment.
It is noteworthy that the Orthodox Metropolis of Korea is under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and is the only canonical Orthodox Church in Korea where believers, regardless of their national background or national identity, gather together as a body in the name of Jesus Christ.
