Disagreements of the Dialogue Committee of the Holy Synod with the Ministry of Education

by Romfea.news

Appeals are made by the Dialogue Committee of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece regarding the procedure and the protocol that is followed during its work with the delegation of the Ministry of Education.

Τhe Dialogue Committee in a statement communicates that it was not given the bill as agreed.

It notes that despite the initial agreement that existed and specified that the bill would be given to it, the Committee was eventually given a 16-page text under the title “Implementation plan of the State-Church Agreement”.

It is, actually, underlined that the Committee has been empowered by the Hierarchy to continue the dialogue with the State and to abide to the existing salary regime for clergy and lay employees of the Church of Greece.

It is also reviewed that it will comment on the draft law, when the government will draw it up and submit it to it.

The Dialogue Committee clarifies that it is its own responsibility to elaborate and propose the forthcoming draft law to the Holy Synod.

It points out that the Holy Synod of the Hierarchy is the only instrument that can take the final decisions of the Church on this issue.

The Committee will finally formulate its positions at the meeting that will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Holy Synod with Mr. Gavroglou and his colleagues.
