Archbishop Makarios of Australia has been visiting Perth since yesterday to communicate with the clergy and people of Western Australia.
The Archbishop and his convoy were welcomed at the airport of Perth by Archieratic Commissioner for the Perth region, Archimandrite Elpidios, the Abbot and the brotherhood of the Holy Monastery of Timios Prodromos in Perth, the local clergyman and many Diaspora Greeks living in Western Australia.
The Archbishop held a meeting today with the clergy of Perth and other local officials to discuss issues concerning the local Church in Western Australia. On the afternoon of that day, the Archbishop gave an interview to the 6EVA FM Radio Station. He met the Board of Directors of St Basil’s Homes on the afternoon, which informed the Archbishop about the new building’s progress. The construction work has begun last July, shortly after the enthronement of Archbishop Makarios on his own initiative.
The Archbishop held a meeting with more than a hundred volunteers, who participate in all of the programs of the Archdiocese of Australia – Western Australia. The Archbishop thanked them for their contribution and the time they spend in order to promote the work of the Church.
The Archbishop’s tour of Western Australia will be concluded on Monday afternoon with a luncheon hosted by the Speaker of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly.
