Pope Francis expressed concerns about the “very fragile ceasefire” in Nagorno-Karabakh region and urged everyone to pray for the victims.
“I appreciate the fact that Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to a ceasefire for humanitarian reasons (…) despite the fact that this ceasefire seems very fragile,” he said, addressing a few hundred people gathered in St. Peter’s Square following the Sunday service.
He also expressed his sorrow “for the loss of human lives, the suffering of people and the destruction of homes and places of worship.” “I pray and call on you to pray for the victims and for all those whose lives are in danger,” he said.
