Britain’s King Charles made his first public appearance at an event since being diagnosed with cancer in February, attending the annual Easter service today.
King Charles, aged 75, accompanied by his wife, Queen Camilla, arrived by car at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The chapel holds special significance as the burial place of his mother, Queen Elizabeth. The royal couple attended the Easter service together.
Charles postponed all prior public engagements after Buckingham Palace disclosed that he was undergoing treatment for an unspecified form of cancer. This diagnosis surfaced during tests conducted as part of his January operation for an enlarged prostate.
While King Charles attended mass today, his son, William, and his family did not.
William’s wife, Kate, revealed earlier this month that she is undergoing preventive chemotherapy after discovering cancer following her abdominal surgery in January.
Despite his health challenges, Charles has maintained some of his public obligations, including welcoming foreign officials and maintaining regular meetings with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Last week, King Charles was unable to attend the Divine Liturgy on Holy Thursday. However, he shared a recorded message during the ceremony, expressing his regret for his absence and extending his wishes for a happy Easter to all citizens.
