Bishop Gregorios of Mesaoria, of the Church of Cyprus, visited the Headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia in Sydney on Friday, November 24.
At the entrance, he was welcomed by Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, accompanied by whom he went to the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation, where he was warmly welcomed by the Protosyncellus, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne, Christoforos Krikelis, and other clergymen of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
After a guided tour of the Cathedral and being informed about its history, Bishop Gregorios was taken to the Archdiocesan Office, where Archbishop Makarios of Australia welcomed him with great joy.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Bishop of Mesaoria conveyed to Archbishop Makarios the fraternal greeting of Archbishop Georgios of New Justiniana and All Cyprus.
Subsequently, the two Hierarchs had a fruitful discussion on issues of common interest, focusing on Cypriot Hellenism of the fifth continent.
Archbishop Makarios also briefed the Bishop on the work carried out by the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, with the blessing of the Mother Church of Constantinople and the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
In conclusion, the Archbishop asked the Bishop of Mesaoria to convey his heartfelt wishes to Archbishop George on his return to the island, praying on this occasion for a peaceful solution to the Cyprus problem.
