The annual established event for the feast of the Three Hierarchs and Protectors of Greek Letters and Education, Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom was organized this year too. The whole event took place on the afternoon of Thursday, January 30, 2020, at the event hall of the Archbishop Makarios III Cultural Foundation in Nicosia.

Metropolitan Vasilios of Constantia and Famagusta, the Bishops Christoforos of Karpasia and Grigorios of Mesaoria, the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus, Archimandrite Gregory Mousouroulis were present.

The keynote address was given by Metropolitan Vasilios of Constantia and Famagusta, Professor of the Theological School of the Church of Cyprus, on “The Theory of Being: The Goals of Education”.

Praising the struggles, lives, work and the theology of the Three Hierarchs, the Metropolitan, while comparing their high level of education with the education we offer today, addressing parents and teachers, emphasized the need to offer children and young people not only tangible goods that are easily scattered, but also spiritual and consistent ones. He also urged parents not to subordinate their children’s intellectual and cognitive education.
