Christmas carols of Pontus, accompanied by a Pontic lyra, were sung to Archbishop Makarios of Australia by young people and children of the Pontian Brotherhood of New South Wales “Pontosxeniteas”, who visited him at the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese in Sydney.
The Archbishop, visibly moved, warmly thanked the delegation of “Pontosxeniteas” for the visit and the special performance of traditional Pontian carols, and extended to all his paternal wishes for a blessed Christmas and a fruitful New Year.
Present were Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, the Protosyncellus of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia of Pontian origin, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne, Christoforos Krikelis, as well as the Ambassador of Romania to Australia, Radu Gabriel Safta, who was visiting the Archbishop.
