The Church of Cyprus honours the memory of St. Triphyllius, Bishop of Ledra, and of Martyr Acyline.
Saint Triphyllius was bishop of Nicosia in the 4th century AD. Following the education he took in the two spiritual centers of the island, Salamina and Soloi, he went to Beirut, where he completed his studies in law and rhetoric.
Close to the miraculous Saint Spyridon, Triphyllius was initiated into the Tradition of the Holy Orthodox Church.
Through studying and listening carefully, he soon succeeded to experience Christian faith. He was ordained deacon and escorted Saint Spyridon to the sessions of the First Council of Nicaea in Bithynia, in 325 AD.
He wished to be complete through Christ and scanctified by the Holy Spirit, so he spent all his life praying, teaching the will of God and making use of all the sanctifying means of the neptic life of the Church. He was an example of virtue for his flock regarding everything.
He died at the age of 80, and was buried at the Holy Monastery of Panagia Odigitria in Nicosia. He left to his descendants a spiritual legacy. This is what encourages us to deal with the difficulties that life has in store for us.
