During her visit to Alexandria, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, had the honor of meeting with Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa at the Patriarchate.
President Sakellaropoulou commended the dedication with which Patriarch Theodore fulfills his spiritual leadership role over the African continent despite the numerous challenges he encounters. She highlighted his role as a distinguished representative of the Greek Orthodox tradition and expressed gratitude for the Patriarchate’s efforts in fostering strong ties with Egypt.
In recognition of her visit and in appreciation of her commitment to fostering bilateral relations, President Sakellaropoulou was bestowed with the highest honor of the Throne, the Grand Cross of Saint Mark with a star, by Pope and Patriarch Theodore II.
Following the ceremony, President Sakellaropoulou was given a guided tour of an exhibition area and the library of the Patriarchate.
