The Hierarchy of the Church of Greece elected two new Metropolitans

The Holy Synod of the Church of Greece elected two new Metropolitans today.

On the third day of its meeting, the Hierarchy elected Archimandrite Nikiforos Efstathiou as Metropolitan of Gortyn and Archimandrite Damaskinos Kiametis as Metropolitan of Aetolia and Acarnania.

The new Metropolitan of Gortyn comes from the Metropolis of Chalkida, where he has served for many years.

The new Metropolitan of Aetolia and Akarnania is the Protosyncellus of the Metropolis of Demetrias for many years and has been a candidate for other Metropolises in the past.
