The feast of the Transfiguration of Christ was celebrated by the faithful Christians with special splendor in Mani.
On the day of the feast, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Mani officiated at the celebrating Holy Church of the Diocese.
The Metropolitan in his sermon said: “Today we have a great Despotic celebration, that of the Transfiguration of the Lord and God, and Savior of ours Jesus Christ. Both the Orthros and the Introit of the Feast have high meanings which really urge us to climb Mount Tabor”.
Metropolitan of Mani added that “The sacred image of the Transfiguration has much to say: It reveals the divine and human nature of Christ, and of course the whole description given by the Evangelists is basically told. The word Tabor refers to the ability of man to ascend spiritually. Christ is wearing a white robe and His face is bathed in glory and shining in the sun. Thus divine light is attributed to the image in both shapes (perfect circle) and colors. The rays extending from the body of Christ indicate the transmission of divine glory”.
Afterwards, Metropolitan Chrysostomos blessed the grapes, as was customary and distributed them to the faithful.
