The Archdiocesan District of Perth celebrated the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos in the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos, one of the 25 churches and monasteries of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia that are dedicated to the Mother of God.
The celebrations, with the blessing of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, began on the eve of the Feast of the Dormition. Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea presided over the Vespers Service.
On the day of the feast, Tuesday, August 15, the Bishop presided over the Divine Liturgy and read the message of Archbishop Makarios. “With a lot of faith we seek refuge to Our Lady, and through the intercessions of the Holy Theotokos, we will be able to face the difficulties, trials and sorrows of life,” the Archbishop said, among other things, in his message.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Elpidios conveyed the blessing of Archbishop Makarios and wished all the best to all and especially to those who bear the names Maria, Marios, Despina, Panagiotis and Panagiota.
