The Feast of Saint Phanourios was celebrated in the namesake chapel of the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St. George of Old Cairo.
The feast was officiated on August 26 and 27 by Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa in the presence of a representative of the Greek Consulate in Cairo, the Abbot of the Holy Monastery, the fraternity of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, and many believers.
It should be noted that in the year 2020 the Holy Chapel of the Holy and Glorious Great Martyr St. Phanourios the Newly-Manifest was completely renovated, as well as the Greco-Roman catacombs and other auxiliary spaces located near the Chapel.
The inauguration of the Chapel and the Sanctification rite for the reopening of the entire space took place on June 8, 2020.
